Paramount Airways back to full operations

New Delhi: The Chennai based Paramount Airways, which returned to full operations this week, is evaluating the option of seeking financial and legal compensation from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS). The compensation would be for the losses it incurred during the two-day grounding of its aircraft.
This follows the three Embraer aircraft leased by the airline from GECAS being allowed to fly after they were re-registered on Monday.
The DGCA had de-registered the aircraft on Friday evening, following what sources claimed was a financial dispute between GECAS and the airline.
The airline had asked the leasing company for a set-off against reimbursements due to it from the maintenance reserves.
No aircraft can take to the Indian skies unless it is registered with the DGCA.
The decision to de-register the aircraft forced the airline to cancel 14 flights over two days.
The aircraft were registered after the airline got a reprieve from the Delhi High Court which asked the DGCA to immediately re-register the aircraft
“This is an issue between the airline and leasing company, why should the Government be involved,” a senior Government official said, when asked as to why the aircraft were de-registered on Friday.
A GECAS spokesperson declined to comment on the issue.
