A senior official of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) confirmed this to TOI on Thursday.
The new airport building would be able to accommodate 400 passengers at a time, which is more than four times its present capacity. It would also be totally air-conditioned, equipped with escalators and have special facilities for physical challenged persons. Importantly, after March, two flights will be able to land at the local airport at one time with the completion of two new aerobridges.
