Churchill Brothers club denies molesting allegations

New Delhi: A day after three of it's players were detained at Mumbai airport for allegedly assaulting and outraging the modesty of a female crew member, Joaquim Alemao, the owner of the club, said that this is a political conspiracy against the club and the airhostess has no proof to sustain the allegations.
Adding to the owner's denial of any such incident one of the accused player, Odafe, also claimed his innocence.
"It's a conspiracy against me. I cannot do such a thing", he said.
"The airhostess is lying, I will file a defamation suite against the airline", he added.
Earlier, the three, Nigerians Odafe, Okolie and Felix Chimaokwu, and goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya, were on their way from Goa to Kolkata via Mumbai for their I-league game against Mohun Bagan on Friday. They were offloaded from Spice Jet flight, SG 804, and were handed over to the airport police station for investigation.
"The incident happened just when the flight had started from Goa. One of the players allegedly pushed the air-hostess. When she turned to object, two more players joined the first and verbally abused the crew," a police official said.
"The altercation became worse as other crew members joined in. Even other passengers on board joined in to defend and help the crew."
