CISF denies harassing Abdul Kalam

Bangalore: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), in charge of security at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA), has denied reports that its personnel had humiliated former President Abdul Kalam following a frisking incident involving his private secretary upon his arrival from New Delhi on Saturday.
Senior CISF officials said that Kalam, who arrived in an Indigo flight, was accorded all the protocol a former President is entitled to as upon alighting from his flight on the tarmac, he was taken in a bullet- proof car to the airports VIP lounge.
An official said that no frisking was done and if Kalam’s private secretary was indeed asked to follow the procedures there was nothing wrong as it was in accordance with the security procedure followed in all airports in the country.
Kalam, who arrived in the city on Saturday to participate in a couple of events, chose not to reply when asked about the incident at the airport.
