DGCA reviews fog situation at Delhi Airport

New Delhi: Director General of Civil Aviation Syed Nasim Ahmad Zaidi today held a meeting with all concerned agencies to review the situation after the large number of disruptions and cancellations of flights caused in the last two days because of the thick fog that covered the capital and its surroundings.
The delays and disruptions also had a cascading effect on all subsequent flights in the network.
Mr Zaidi stressed that a procedure should be evolved wherein all concerned agencies should take necessary steps to avoid passenger inconvenience during CAT IIIB operations.
According to an official press release, the DGCA was informed that a lot of ground congestion was experienced on Terminal 2 side as landing minima during CAT IIIB operations is less than the take-off minima due to which aircraft are permitted to land without any departure at the same time.
He was also informed that domestic airlines by and large did not experience any problem in their first departures.
