Former Goa CM stands up for Churchill footballers

Mumbai: Churchill Alemao, patron of one of India's leading football clubs, Churchill Brothers, spent most of yesterday insisting his players had been wrongly accused of molesting a SpiceJet air hostess.
That said, he tried to make light of the accusation of sexual misconduct levelled by the air hostess against three players Odafe Onyeka and Okolie, Kalu Nnanna Ogba, both from Nigeria, and Arindham Bhattacharya.
"These days it is difficult to even talk to women. Thank god, I don't have a woman secretary," said Churchill.
And then added on a serious note, "I am going to write a letter to the aviation ministry and advise them not to put the female crew on flights because it makes for controversies and it has happened in the past too," added Churchill. He also said he would certainly forgive SpiceJet if they apologised.
"I am going to sue the airlines in court and I have sufficient proof that the airline is lying and there is a conspiracy to target our top players and upset the team's morale just before the tournament is scheduled in Kolkata." Team Churchill reached Kolkata last afternoon and will play Mohun Bagan today.
The three players got bail in just three hours, rare in molestation cases.
