An IndiGo Airlines flight on the Kolkata-Chennai route made an emergency landing late on Wednesday after the pilot noticed a technical snag in the aircraft.
The flight, with 175 passengers on board, took off at 9.10 pm. "A little later, the pilot noticed something wrong with the wing flaps," said an airline official. He got in touch with ATC officials at Kolkata airport and sought clearance for emergency landing. For the next 40 minutes, the flight hovered over Bay of Bengal to burn fuel and reduce its weight to ensure a safe landing.
The flight landed safely at 10.50 pm. There was no disruption in flight operations.
