Ketamine powder seized from Ahmedabad airport, three held

Ahmedabad: Custom officers at Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport here seized 50 kilograms of Ketamine powder valued at Rs 50 lakh in the international grey market and arrested three persons, they said on Tuesday.
The contraband was seized from two passengers hailing from Tamil Nadu - Jafar Khadir and Mohammad Riyaz on Saturday, who were scheduled to fly for Jakarta by Singapore Airline flight number SQ 531 on January 2 from Ahmedabad, a custom official said.
The banned drug, Ketamine powder was concealed in stainless steel tea kettles and was packed professionally to avoid detection, she added.
According to custom official, in connection with this seizure, another passenger who arrived at Bangalore airport on January 3 from Jakarta was also arrested, official said.
During investigations it has come to fore that all the three passengers had carried the contraband and were scheduled to fly Jakarta by Singapore Airlines, they said.
