Kolkata: The modernisation work of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport was progressing satisfactorily, Union Minister of State for Urban Development Saugata Roy Monday said of the Rs.2,000-crore project slated to be completed in 2011.
“About 2,200 people are working at the site and 21 percent of the work has been completed. The progress of the work is satisfactory,” Roy told reporters after a meeting of the NSCBI Airport Advisory Committee at the airport here. He is the chairman of the committee.
The work is scheduled to be over by August 2011. After modernisation, the airport would be able to handle about 20 million passengers annually, he said.
