RBA re-fleeting plans with Jet Airways nears finalisation

Royal Brunei Airlines and Jet Airways are close to finalising a deal which will see the latter lease its three Boeing 777-300 ER as part of its re-fleeting initiative.
According to a report from India (www.bangaloreaviation.com), the aircraft that were formerly leased to Air Gulf, could be in the Sultanate as early as next month. An industry source said one of the aircraft is currently being refurbished in Hong Kong; however, the management at Royal Brunei Airlines could not be contacted to verify the claim.
Regardless when the deal is finalised, Royal Brunei Airlines is expected to have in its fleet a luxurious retrofitted aircraft courtesy of its brief stint in service with Gulf Air. In total three B777s are expected to be operational in Brunei by the middle of this year.
According to Devesh Agarwal, Head the Infrastructure Committee at the Bangalore Chamber of Commerce and Industry who also runs Bangalore Aviation, the world renowned three-class Boeing 777 is allegedly configured with eight first class seats, 30 business class and 274 economy class configuration.
The cabin includes first class suites and fully flat beds for business class. Should it remain, the “state of the art” cabin would bring back some lustre to RBA’s reputation forged in the 1980s as a premiere luxury airline.
