SpiceJet flies into black, Kingfisher's loss widens

New Delhi/Bangalore: Delhi-based LCC SpiceJet ended the October-December, 2009, quarter with a best ever figure of Rs 108.9 crore. On the other hand, India’s second biggest airline Kingfisher saw its losses widening for the same quarter with the figure going up to Rs 419.9 crore.
The company had a net loss of Rs 17.9 crore during the corresponding quarter of last fiscal, SpiceJet said in a statement. Total income rose by 23.7% to Rs 653.3 crore in the quarter against Rs 528 crore during the year-ago period.
Kingfisher saw the loss growing from Rs 413.3 crore to Rs 419.9 crore. However, both airlines recorded better load factors thanks to the overall revival.
SpiceJet saw a 55% growth in traffic numbers on a y-o-y basis along with a 37% rise in revenue.
