Deccan 360 plans to go to smaller cities

Captain G R Gopinath-promoted cargo airline Deccan 360 is shifting focus to smaller towns in order to grow profitably by steering clear of highly competitive routes.
Since it began operations, Deccan 360 has been flying to 10 airports across the country. “We currently have a fleet that flies to 10 destinations including non-metros. We are now looking to add services to four more airports,” said Hemanth DP, deputy chief operating officer, Deccan 360.
He also said they would now be concentrating on secondary and tertiary towns. The move to focus on smaller towns, according to aviation industry analysts, might also stem from the desire to avoid head-on competition with passenger airlines such as Kingfisher, Jet Airways and Air India. The passenger carriers have been beefing up their cargo offerings to profitably use empty belly space in their aircraft to ferry cargo.
Hemanth also said that they will be hiring and bringing in more motorcycles for their road operations, which will be used for their express delivery operations.
Deccan 360 currently operates 500 vehicles and flies seven freighter aircraft, including four ATRs and three Airbus A310s.
