Mumbai: The Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd. (MIAL) will be inaugurating a new Terminal 1C at the domestic airport in first week of April this year. The new Terminal 1C, which will link the existing Terminal 1A and 1B, will have aerobridges to facilitate quick boarding, thereby reducing travel time in the bus rides from the tarmac to terminal building. The Terminal 1C is likely to benefit passengers boarding from Terminal 1B, which does not have any aerobridge and passengers have to take a bus from the terminal building to the aircraft.
According to a report in Times of India, an MIAL spokesperson mentioned that the new Terminal 1C will be ready end of March this year, and will be opened to passengers by first week of April this year. It will act as link for both the terminals. Passengers depending on the traffic and availability of aerobridges will be boarding from Terminal 1C after completing their check-in formalities. Another official said that the idea was to do away with passenger coaches and keep vehicular activity in the operations area limited.
