Tight security for air show

Hyderabad: In view of the ongoing Telangana agitation, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Hyderabad police are making elaborate security arrangements for the second edition of the international aviation exhibition ‘India Aviation 2010’ scheduled to open on March 3 at Begumpet airport here.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MCA) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci), Delhi, are jointly organising the five-day exhibition and conference. As there was an overwhelming response from people for the first edition in 2008, the organisers would allow public to view the exhibition for two days—March 6 and 7.
Boeing 777 (the longest Boeing with a seating capacity of 358) will be the highlight of the air show this time. Apart from the largest aircraft, Bell Helicopter, Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault Aviation, Gulfstream Aerospace and Hawker Beechcraft would exhibit their products.
“The entire venue will be under the scanner. We have installed nearly 30 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and Ficci will add another 35 soon. A control room will be set up at the airport’s main building,” Begumpet airport director R K Singla told TOI.
“Over 135 CISF personnel, 84 security personnel from Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Delhi, and local police will be deployed at the venue for the air show,” he added.
