Bangalore: The hearing on the batch of pleas seeking reopening of HAL Airport has reached a crucial stage. Attorney general G E Vahanvati will address the arguments on behalf of the Centre on Thursday.
With stake-holders like Airport Authority of India (AAI) and HAL saying that they would adopt the stand of Centre in the case vis-a-vis reopening issue, the attorney general's submissions will have a bearing on the fate of the HAL Airport which shut down commercial operations, ever since the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) was commissioned in May 2008.
Meanwhile, the AAI confirmed that it had no role in closure of HAL Airport, maintaining that neither was it involved nor consulted on the issue.
