Hyderabad: Underscoring the need for upgradation of non-metro airports in the State, Chief Minister K Rosaiah said, the State had signed an MoU with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for upgradation and development of airports in tier- II cities including Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Warangal and Kadapa. He also requested the authorities to upgrade Tirupati airport into an international airport.
Inaugurating the second edition of the India Aviation 2010 show here on Wednesday, he said that to encourage and attract private players and requisite investments, the Government would provide fiscal incentives apart from infrastructure like land, water and power supply for the project for development of regional airports under PPP mode.
Rosaiah further said the first helicopter cabin from the Aerospace and Precision Engineering SEZ at Adibatla in Rangareddy district will start this month and will be ready by November. Tata Advanced Systems and Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation have formed a joint venture to set up India’s first helicopter cabin manufacturing facility in Hyderabad.
