CBI officials sniff out irregularity in Airport Authority’s land sale

Sensing that something was amiss in the proposed sale of 30 acres of Dahisar land by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (MIAL), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has seized papers related to the deal from AAI’s Mumbai and Delhi offices.
According to sources, the action was taken after a long surveillance by the CBI during which it found that the AAI was allegedly selling off its land at Dahisar at a price far below the market price.
The AAI owns nearly 60 acres of land at Dahisar, part of which is used for its communication infrastructure, namely the radio receiving centres. Nearly 10 to 12 acres of the same land has been encroached upon by slum dwellers.
