Kingfisher Airlines flight takes off after 5-hour delay

Chandigarh: As many as 100 passengers of Kingfisher Airlines’ Chandigarh-Mumbai flight were stranded at the Chandigarh airport for five hours on Sunday morning without any assistance from the airline staff. They were not only deprived of food and water but also made to stand for hours in the wait of the aircraft. The airline was delayed due to “technical” snag in the airplane.
The flight, IT 600, with scheduled departure of 10.55 am took off around 4 pm, making passengers wait for close to five hours. A few had checked in at 9 am, two hours before the flight departure as recommended by the airline.
“I checked-in at 9:15 am. We were asked to wait for the flight as one of the tyres of the aircraft was to be replaced due to some problem. There was hardly much space to sit in the room where we were asked to wait. There were small children and women who were also going through the same torture,” said Vikram Jain, a Chandigarh-based passenger.
When Newsline contacted airline officials, they declined to divulge any information. Though they accepted the fact that the flight took off with a delay of five hours from its scheduled departure, no reason for the delay was given.
