Potential juror in Reyat case dismissed for being too angry

The judge in the perjury trial of Inderjit Singh Reyat dismissed a potential juror from duty Wednesday after the man said he couldn't participate because he was too angry.
Justice Mark McEwan told the man he didn't like his attitude after he told the court that he thought the case had been "solved" 15 years ago and had been "laid to rest."
"I'm not really impressed with your attitude, I'm not going to make you a juror," McEwan said.
The man was among several potential jurors who put forward excuses to avoid jury duty. One woman argued that her English was too poor; a sheet metal worker was dismissed because he brother was a retired police officer who had worked on the case.
One woman, a supervisor in Burnaby Hospital, told McEwan she was happy to "have the experience of being a juror" but when she was dismissed, she said: "I can go home? Yes" and pumped the air with her fist.
In the end, eight women and four men were chosen for jury duty for the two-week trial, in which Reyat is accused of lying 27 times during his testimony at the trial of two Air India co-accused in 2003. The trial begins on Monday.
