Why collect tax if building illegal? SCB asked to clarify

Hyderabad: An inquiry committee probing the March 3 accident in which a Kiran aircraft performing aerobatics as part of India Aviation-2010 show crashed into a three-storied building in New Bowenpally, sought a clarification from the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) on the tax paid by building owner L Ramesh Kumar on the unauthorised building.
A three-member committee set up by SCB to probe whether there were irregularities in the building has already submitted its report on March 8, stating that the building was completely illegal. However, according to SCB sources, the building owner has been paying property tax since 2003.The president, Board of Inquiry (BOI), in a letter addressed to SCB chief executive officer C Ravindra, sought clarification as to "how tax was paid by L Ramesh Kumar on an unauthorised building in his name."
The property tax issue came to light when the BOI was collecting building-related documents like layouts, patta deeds and tax sheets.
