Mumbai: Concerned over the dwindling number of tigers in India, private air-carrier Jet Airways, today launched a 12-day motorbike-expedition by its Jet Adventure Team to create awareness among the people to step forward and save the national animal from extinction.
The expedition was flagged off by Jet Airways' chief commercial officer, Sudheer Raghavan, in Mumbai.
According to a recent survey, the number of tigers in the country has decreased from around 40,000 during the dawn of the 20th century to a mere 1,411 now.
