Chennai: A contract worker who had been questioined by the police a few weeks ago in connection with an explosive being found on a Kingfisher Airlines flight committed suicide on Friday in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
Apparently, the 28-year-old ‘casual loader’ was crestfallen after being quizzed by the police, sources said quoting the suicide note left behind by Sunil. It appears that Sunil had hopes of going abroad, but feared the police questioning would hamper his chances.
In a suicide note addressed to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Thomas Jolly Cherian, the officer who questioned him, Sunil pleaded innocence.
A ‘low-intensity explosive’ was recovered from the cargo-hold of a Kingfisher flight after it landed in Thiruvananthapuram from Bangalore on March 21.
Police arrested Rajasekharan Nair, one of the ground handling staff who is believed to have planted the crude bomb to avenge his humiliation by a manager who is responsible for security. Sunil was also employed by the same company.
