New Delhi: A minor technical error in a Spice Jet flight on Saturday morning upset the directorate general of civil aviation chief Nasim Zaidi's travel plans as he was forced to cancel his trip to Bangalore.
According to airline officials, the aircraft was completely serviceable in the morning but during the fire check system carried out by the pilot on the Boeing 737-800, he noticed that the cargo fire alarm had gone off.
According to Zaidi, the pilot asked for engineers to come and check the system but when it could not be serviced even 15 minutes later, the pilot decided to have passengers shifted to another aircraft.
The flight had to depart at 6.40am but due to the technical error, it took another hour to have passengers shifted to the other aircraft and the flight finally left around 8am.
Zaidi said that along with the airline's maintenance team, DGCA's airworthiness team was also checking to see what led to the error and ensure that such delays would not happen in the future.
