Mysore : The commercial operations from the much-awaited upgraded Mysore Mandakali airport are expected to commence before May 20, even though it got ready in September last year.
The uncertainty over the operations of flights by private or state-operated airlines will finally come to reality as airlines have agreed to start operations and sought concessions in terms of taxes (operation) from the Karnataka Government.
Mysore MP and former minister A H Vishwanath, who met Union Aviation minister Praful Patel along with Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Siddaramiah and KPCC President R V Desphande recently at New Delhi, appraised the situation and urged him to declare open the completed Mysore Airport.
Mr Vishwanath told UNI that due to economic slowdown which badly hit airline, private players have not shown any interest. However, the situation has changed and now everything was ready for commencing flight operations.
The formal function is expected to be held in the second week of this month, he added.
