Kolkata: Some union members, who have been sacked by the Air India management to break up a strike, have vowed to challenge their sacking and the derecognition of All India Aircraft Engineers Association (AIAEA) and Air Corporations Employees Union (ACEU).
ACEU regional secretary Samir Mondal, assistant secretary Ajay Sarkar and AIAEA regional secretary Surojit Kumar vowed to step up the protest. “The main ire of the management is that AIAEA criticized the systems and procedures of the company before the media . We cannot accept the management’s decision to gag us,” Mondal said.
In the east, ACEU has a membership of 2,200 while AIAEA’s strength is around 80-100 . It isn’t clear how many will join the indefinite strike from June 12 but with the management talking tough, it could be a rough ride ahead.
Mondal alleged that the A-I management’s action was aimed at clearing the hurdles for handing over ground operations to Singapore Air Terminal Services (SATS).
