Surat to get more domestic flights in next few months

Surat: The high-flying Surtis may soon get some extra domestic air connectivity with Luan Airways a Guwahati-based airline carrier in the final stage of procuring aircraft to start its flight services from Surat.
The airline company will place two aircraft at Surat a 19-seater Beechcraft to connect the diamond city with Bhavnagar, Rajkot & Jamnagar and a 50-seater CRJ aircraft for destinations like Delhi, Hyderabad etc. The company's officials revealed their plans about starting flight services from Surat in the next four months at a high-level meeting with the state government's civil aviation department and the Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials in Gandhinagar on Wednesday.
Various issues related to Surat airport were discussed at the meeting. The civil aviation department also discussed the new civil aviation policy of the state government, which aims at improving the intra-state connectivity, airstrips and helipads across Gujarat. "Surat is soon going to get extra connectivity within the state as well as other important destinations in the country," said Ashok Verma, airport controller, who attended the meeting in Gandhinagar.
