Verification of caste is harassment: Air India staff

Mumbai: Air India employees holding reserved category posts have opposed the airline’s move to verify caste certificates alleging harassment.
On May 4, the Air Corporations’ SC/ST Employees Association (ACEA), a body formed by reserved caste employees, sent a letter to the airline asking it to dissolve a recently appointed task force to verify caste certificates.
The letter alleges that the airline is trying to arm twist some members of the association under the guise of re-verifying their caste certificate. “People mentioned in the list of suspected employees have been serving the company for more than 15 years,” said R.Y. Bankar, general secretary of the association.
