Mangalore: Chief Minister Mr. B.S. Yeddyurappa appealed to the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel to consider civilian aircraft operations from Indian Air Force base at Bidar. He said IAF and the AAI would be able to collate a civil aviation movement protocol at Bidar airstrip. Mr. Yeddyurppa also wanted the minister to put development of Belgaum and Hubli airport under fast track.
Noting that Air India Express is the only airliner operating to destinations in the Middle East from Mangalore airport, the state government will shortly accord approval to a project to construct a separate exit road from the new terminal building at a cost of Rs 9 crore, he said responding positively to a demand from AAI Chairman V P Agarwal in this regard.
