Dubai: Prominent Gulf-based businessman Yusuffali M.A. has been appointed by the Government of India as Director Board Member of Air India.
His appointment is part of the government’s move to restructure the national carrier run by the National Aviation Company of India Ltd. Yusuffali, Managing Director of the UAE-based Emke Group, joins the Air India Board with significant experience in the Indian Aviation Industry.
Emke Group runs Lulu hypermarkets and shopping malls across the GCC countries and employs largest number of Indians abroad numbering more than 22,000. Yusuffali, who has won Padma Shri award, had served as the special invitee to the Board of Directors of Air India and Indian Airlines in the year 1997-98. He is the Director of Cochin International Airport Ltd., the first airport set up in the private sector in the country since its inception.
