Mumbai: Leslie Missel was grilled for nearly 10 hours by the CBI in Mumbai on Saturday. Missel, a former major and now assistant vice president security of Kingfisher Airlines is the first aviation official to be arrested by the CBI in the Manoj Malviya fraud case.
Malviya, additional commissioner of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), is being investigated for corruption since May.
To crack the case, the CBI on Saturday arrested the Kingfisher security head. Missel has been remanded to CBI custody until June 16 allegedly because he was not cooperating with the investigators.
CBI sources told NDTV:
* Malviya made financial gains from private carriers
* It's also alleged that free tickets were given to him by private carriers
* In turn Malviya is alleged to help the airline get security clearances
Also under scanner is another private airline that is alleged to have offered Malviya free tickets worth 65 lakh rupees to facilitate a complicated merger process.
