It is ‘too hot’ inside Chennai airport

Chennai: For over a month now, the air conditioning units at the Chennai airport have been dysfunctional. According to airport sources, problems started when two airconditioning units were shifted owing to terminal expansion and the compressor in the other six units failed.
"It has been more than a month since this issue was taken up with Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials. In fact, a passenger at the international terminal passed out because of lack of air circulation. For, the building does not have a ventilation system. You end up feeling giddy because the AC does not work and the low oxygen," said an airport official at the domestic terminal.
According to another operator, the domestic terminal resembled a fish market around 10 days ago. "There are about 2,500 people in the evening in an area that has seating for only 250.... One AAI employee was even manhandled by an enraged Indigo passenger in frustration," he said.
The problem, however, is prevalent in both domestic and international terminals.
