Jet Airways plane lands in Bhopal on one nose-wheel

Bhopal: A nose-wheel of a Jet Airways aircraft was detached from the fuselage at the time of the touchdown in Bhopal on Wednesday morning.
The landing, however, was safe, albeit on one nose-wheel.
The flight was from Ahmedabad to Raipur, stopping at Indore, Bhopal and Hyderabad. But the journey could not proceed beyond Bhopal.
The broken nose-wheel was recovered at the runway. There were 36 passengers and four crew-members on board.
All transit passengers were accommodated at the airport lounge. They would be sent to their destinations via Delhi, airport sources said.
Sources said the pilot, Captain Violetta, a foreigner, had made a bumpy landing at Indore airport and that’s how the nose-wheel was damaged. But the aircraft managed to take off from Indore even with the damaged nose-wheel. The fault had not been detected then. As soon as the pilot reported the snag to the air-traffic controller, the fire brigade, ambulance and the staff rendering other essential services were alerted.
The aircraft was shifted to the parking bay for inspection.
