New Delhi: A member of the ground handling staff at the Indira Gandhi International Airport was detained by officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in the early hours of Sunday morning after a couple bound for Colombo reported the loss of their handbag.
“The CISF received a complaint from a Colombo-bound couple around 2 am on Sunday. The woman passenger had complained her handbag was stolen while she was at the immigration counter. The CCTV footage was checked and the culprit was apprehended,” a CISF official said.
In the CCTV footage, the loader, identified as Bhagwan Das, an employee with Neha Aviation (a contractor hired by Air India), was seen standing very close to the complainant’s bag. As the woman was busy filling up the immigration form, the loader made away with her bag and swiftly moved towards the operational area.
