Ahmedabad's new terminal to begin operations from I-Day

Ahmedabad: By August 15, you will be able to board your flight from the swanky newly-built international terminal building at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) international Airport.
The new terminal has an area of 39,331 sq metre and has been constructed at a cost of Rs 316 crore. Clearing doubts over the use of the terminal building, Union civil aviation minister, Praful Patel said, “The building will be used for both international and domestic air traffic after it commences operations on August 15.”
Patel was speaking during the inauguration of the terminal on Sunday.
The new terminal is also equipped with 410-metre-long underground travelators (walkalators) in an underground link with existing domestic terminal.
Chairman of Airports Authority of India (AAI), VP Agarwal said, “In future, a control tower, taxiway and new radar will be added at the airport. We need support from state government for further expansion plan of the airport.”
