Air India crash debris cleared

Mangalore: 48 days after the ill fated Air India IX812 air crash that took place in Bajpe, the debris have been finally cleared. Fiza Projects had taken up the task of clearing the debris and piling up the parts of the plane near a specially arranged dump yard created by the Airport authority of India just opposite the Dakkan Park Hotel at Kenjar village. The last piece of the aircraft was the nose which had sunk 5 feet under the muck.
Ahmed Bawa, the promoter of Fiza Projects said that all the parts of the plane have been found in the last two days and are dropped individually at the dump yard near Dakkan park. The airport authorities have asked the relief workers to search the area once again in case they found some more baggage or personal properties of the victims.
Meanwhile More than 200 villagers from Addepady, Kolambe, Kandavara, Kenjaru and Malavoor led by the Zilla Panchayat member Vinod Mada staged a protest and blocked the road, demanding immediate repairs to the 11 km road.
Vinod Mada said that the road between Kenjaru and Deccan Park was completely damaged as heavy trucks and equipments engaged in clearing the debris of crashed plane were continuously plying on these roads. They said the volume of the traffic on the road was also increased after the crash as many people were visiting the spot.
