Chandigarh airport goes under water

Chandigarh: Heavy downpour on Tuesday forced passengers, including cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, to wade through almost two feet of water at the Chandigarh Airport to get to the airline terminal.
Though most of the private airlines had informed their passengers coming to Chandigarh through announcement at all airports about the problem at the airport, passengers had a harrowing time reaching the safety of dry land.
The airlines had also deployed their vehicles at the entrance of the airport gate to carry passengers to safe areas from where they could get taxies or other vehicles for their places. Even the Airport Authority of India (AAI) also pressed into service buses for facilitating passengers.
Some fire-brigade vehicles, cranes and security staff were also deployed by the UT administration to avert any mishap. Though no untoward incident took place, the incident has exposed the claims of UT authorities and the airport authorities about offering international facilities.
