New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi International Airport police claimed to have unearthed a trafficking racket with bases in Kathmandu, Kabul and Delhi. Four persons, including two Nepalese women, have been arrested.
Pumpa Lama (35), her local contact Pooja Sharma (30), and two passengers Tek Bahadur Rana Magar (32) and Ram Bahadur Thapa (32) were arrested after the two flyers were detained with fake passports. "A close scrutiny of their travel documents revealed that the real passport holders' photos were replaced with those of the accused,'' said a senior police officer. Both the passengers were brought from Kathmandu by Lama, whose husband is a Buddhist monk there.
"She and her brother, Kumar Babu Lama, came to India with an aim to make a fast buck by sending Nepali citizens abroad for jobs. They rented a house in Punjabi Bagh. She along with her brother sent many to Dubai and Kabul using forged experience certificates and documents,'' said DCP (IGI) Dr O P Mishra.
