Air-lift hope for patients in NE

Guwahati: Medica Superspeciality Hospital of Calcutta is offering air evacuation services to patients from the Northeast.
“Patients from this region are often unable to avail well-equipped services in times of emergency and hence there is a need for air evacuation services in this region,” the director of Medica Institute of Neurological Diseases, L.N. Tripathy, told.
The air evacuation services through Cessna SkyHawk (a four-seater) will be available to patients from the region at Rs 10,000 per hour. The aircraft has been taken on lease and can be deployed with prior intimation to pick up the patient and one relative.
Once they reach the Calcutta airport, there will be an ambulance to take them to the hospital. The hospital had launched its services in the eastern region on August 8 and seven patients have availed the facility so far. In the Northeast, the hospital will make its air evacuation service available in Agartala, Tezpur, Jorhat and Silchar and extend it later on.
