Mangalore: Kerala Association of Travel Agents (KATA) has urged Airports Authority of India not to impose users' fee on domestic and international passengers travelling from Mangalore airport from September 1.
N A Sulaiman, vice-president of KATA, here stated that the users' fee of Rs 825 for international, and Rs 150 for domestic passengers is high compared to standard and air services facilities available at the airport for the present. Noting that users' fee is being imposed for the first time in the history of Mangalore airport, Sulaiman stated that only Air India Express, a budget airline, is operating from Mangalore to a few destinations in the Gulf. Users' fee was in force at Karipur and Nedumbaseery airports, and the same was withdrawn later after protests from travellers, Sulaiman stated.
