Cargo terminal at Surat city airport?

Surat: Come August 30 and a team of high-ranking officials from New Delhi, including general managers (cargo & corporate affairs) of Airport Authority of India (AAI), will be in the city to check feasibility of setting up of a cargo terminal on AAI land. They will meet representatives of export associations, transport and courier companies to gauge the proposed cargo terminal's economic viability.
"The main issue is revenue," controller, Surat airport, G K Khare said. "We do have necessary infrastructure to run a cargo terminal for medium-sized cargo aircraft comparable to Airbus-319, 320 and 321. Our airport has space for four flights at a time and more could be created for another six," he added. Presently, the airport has 317 hectare of land under its possession and only a single flight per day visits the city from Delhi.
