‘Enjoy’ train journey by Indian Airlines

Passengers travelling by IC 694 of the Indian Airlines from Bangkok to Ahmedabad via Mumbai had a harrowing experience on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. During the four hour journey from Bangkok to Mumbai, over 150 people, including 60 Ahmedabad-bound passengers, suffered an ordeal similar to that of travelling by a second class sleeper coach of the Indian Railways.
Lamenting the flight, passenger Ashwin Gupta, said about 150 passengers from Bangkok were taken for a ride by the Indian Airlines. None of the commitments by the airlines was met on the aircraft, nor at the at Mumbai airport. The inconvenience to the passengers began the moment they stepped into the aeroplane.
“We were greeted to soaked and stinking carpet,” said the passenger adding that thereafter, there were no end to woes. Despite protests by many passengers, the crew members remained indifferent to their grievances.
Complaints from passengers started pouring in one after the other. While some complained of improper entertainment system in the aircraft, others were waiting for refreshment. “Strangely, the refreshment was understocked, and could not even cater to all the passengers, even in the first round,” said Gupta. Irritation among passengers during the flight increased owing to improper air conditioners.
