Inquiry against AI cabin crew

Mumbai: After repeated warnings from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Air India has finally ordered an inquiry against one of its flight pursers for allegedly misusing his position as the chief of the airline’s cabin crew union for personal benefits in 2006.
Last week, the management issued a chargesheet to Sanjay Lazer, general secretary of the All India Cabin Crew Association, one of the two cabin crew unions comprising more than 2000 cabin crew members.
Sources added that soon after the development, Lazer reported sick so the proceeding is yet to start.
The main allegation is that he forayed into construction business with Niyati Builders, a Pune-based construction company and used the airline’s in-flight magazine Namaskar to promote it.
Secondly, in 2007 he was charged for refusing duty on 495 working days and dual employment.
