MRO Market Poised To Take Off In India

Vivek Gour, CEO and major shareholder of Air Works, an independent Indian maintenance, repair and overhaul provider, believes India’s MRO market is about to take off in the same way information technology and software services began to mushroom in the country 15 years ago. After building a successful IT company in India, Gour has sold off his holding to invest in aircraft MRO. He became CEO of Air Works on July 3.
Although airlines such as Air India and Jet Airways already do some of this work themselves (estimated at about $60 million in value), Gour notes that India-based airlines send about $500 million worth of MRO work outside the country.
