SC defers hearing in Kingfisher-Jet alliance case

New Delhi: The Supreme court on Friday deferred the hearing on a plea by Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines in a case related to its two-year-old strategic alliance with Jet Airways.
A bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapdia directed that the matter be adjourned for four weeks.
During the last hearing, the apex court had said that it would hear Kingfisher's plea only after passing a judgement in an interlinked matter in which it has to lay guidelines regarding powers of the Competition Commission of India, CCI, to initiate investigation against a company on the complaints of a rival.
This matters is still reserve and the apex court is yet to pass any orders in this regard.
Earlier, on July 30, the apex Court had declined to stay the orders of the Bombay High Court directing the Vijay Mallya-promoted airlines to co-operate with the fair trade regulator CCI in the investigations.
