50,000 compensated for boarding hassles

Over 50,000 passengers have been compensated for flight delays, cancellations and denied boardings by way of refunds or re-scheduled flights over the last month, according to data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
The DGCA enforced its Civil Aviation Requirement for compensating passengers on August 15. As many as 71 Kingfisher passengers were denied boarding over the last month.
"Thirteen passengers were given refunds while 58 were booked on other flights," said the DGCA statement. Data for Nacil and some data for Jet Airways were not available with the DGCA.
In all 3276 Kingfisher, 1360 Spice Jet and 542 Go Air passengers were affected because their flights were cancelled.
Airlines said they gave the passengers refreshments or hotel accommodation (including overnight accommodation) and allowed them to reschedule their flights.
