Mumbai: National carrier Air India plans to launch a service connecting Chennai and Agatti in Lakshadweep from September 24.
The proposed flight will be operated six days a week, using an ATR aircraft, an Air India release said here on Friday.
The commencement of service between Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep is part of the airline's objective to enhance air connectivity to the remote areas of the country, it said.
Agatti will be the 64th destination on the domestic network of Air India, it said.
The flight will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on the Chennai-Kochi-Agatti-Kochi-Chennai route, while on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays the airline will operate on the Chennai-Bangalore-Agatti-Bangalore-Chennai route.
