First commercial flight from Mysore to fly on Oct 1

Mysore: The city's long wait for air connectivity seems to be over. Kingfisher Airlines will launch the commercial operations with the Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore circuit on October 1.
Mysore MP H Vishwanath on Friday said the necessary clearances from the Union civil aviation ministry will come in few days facilitating the commercial launch of the workable airport. The operations will start a week ahead of Dasara festivities.
This comes three months after Kingfisher Airlines moved the AAI and the directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA) seeking necessary clearances to operate commercial flights from Mysore. Days after the Global Investors Meet in Bangalore in early June when CM B S Yeddyurappa approached Vijaya Mallya, the Kingfisher Airlines had written to the AAI and DGCA saying it is ready to operate flights from August 15. But it didn't work out owing to the delay in the government meeting their tax demands. Finally, it was decided to slash sales tax on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by 4 per cent.
Days after tourism and infrastructure development minister G Janardhana Reddy made the announcement, Kingfisher is flying out of Mysore, nearly a year after the AAI facility was readied to handle the traffic.
