Jet Airways retains No. 1 spot on domestic circuit

Mumbai: Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines have retained their leadership positions in the domestic aviation industry in August, according to data released by Director General of Civil Aviation.
Naresh Goyal-controlled Jet Airways and its no-frills arm JetLite enjoyed a combined 26% share of the Indian aviation sector while Vijay Mallya's Kingfisher Airlines had a 20% market share in August. Both the companies have been controlling the first and second position in the domestic aviation industry.
Nacil, which operates Air India, emerged as the third largest player with an 18% market share. Low-cost carrier Indigo came fourth with a 16% share while SpiceJet and GoAir recorded 13% and 6% market share, respectively.
Domestic air traffic rose by 19% to 339.09 lakh passengers between January to August, compared to the year-ago period, the DGCA data showed.
