Surat: For the first time in three years, officials from leading airlines will descend on the diamond city on September 16 to explore possibilities to connect it with important domestic destinations.
Senior officers of Kingfisher, Go Air, Indigo and Spice Jet are scheduled to visit the diamond city along with Gujarat government aviation secretary Vipul Mitra and aviation director Ajay Chauhan to explore the city's potential in the domestic air connectivity to locations such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi.
A meeting in this connection was held recently in Gandhinagar wherein the members of the industry and trade bodies met senior officers of the leading airlines along with the office-bearers of Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI). The airlines have agreed to start operations from Surat, if they are assured of getting 80 per cent traffic from the city.
