Bangalore: The Association of Private Operators’ Organisation (APAO) — a body representing all the five privatised airports in India, comprising of Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Cochin and Bangalore — has asked the Ministry of Civil Aviation to help a few private airlines clear their dues.
APAO, general secretary, Satyan Nayar told Express that the association took up the issue of non-payment of dues by a few airlines like Kingfisher, with the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The GMR Group which runs airports at Delhi and Hyderabad had put Kingfisher airlines on cash-and-carry, due to payment defaults. Now, the other private operators also want the dues settled soon.
“Kingfisher Airlines has a substantial amount due with other APAO members like the Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) and the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL). In August, the APAO took up this issue with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, to help the airline clear its dues.
Apart from private airports, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) too has substantial dues from the private airlines.
